Enrique Hernández-Montaño consigue recrear perfectamente los suburbios londinenses de final de siglo, el centro de la Inglaterra de la Revolución Industrial con sus nuevas factorías y la fastuosidad imperial, pero, también recrea sus barrios de extrema pobreza de los que salieron socialismo y comunismo. Consigue mantener la historia en alto hasta el final utilizando tres voces narrativas, la del inspector Abberline, la del proxeneta Natham Grey y la de la prostituta Natalie Marvin, tres voces narrativas muy personales y muy bien construidas entre las que se intercalan las cartas del Destripador y su confesión final, que introducen el más profundo horror en la novela.
