Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Romanistik - Spanische Sprache, Literatur, Landeskunde, Note: 1,3, Universität Leipzig (Institut für Romanistik), Veranstaltung: Srpachgeschichte/Toponomastik, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Nach der römischen Herrschaft auf der iberischen Halbinsel und der damit verbundenen Romanisierung, ist die Eroberung der Halbinsel durch die Araber und der damit verbundene Einfluss der arabischen Sprache auf das Spanische, der deutlichste Einschnitt in der spanischen Sprachentwicklung. Die alten Gliederungen mit ihren sprachlichen und kulturellen Zentren im Süden der Halbinsel, in der damaligen Baetica, wurden überlagert. Es sind zwar sprachliche Elemente des älteren Romanischen durch die Mozaraber erhalten geblieben, diese Unterschieden sich aber deutlich von den neueren Ausprägungen des Romanischen aus dem Norden, wie z.B. des Kastilischen. Das Kastilische hat seine Ausbildung bereits in Altkastilien erfahren, bevor es im Zuge der Reconquista nach Süden getragen wurde. Das Galicische hingegen entwickelte sich erst, mit dem weiteren Voranschreiten der Christen, nach Süden zum Portugiesischen. [...]

Einige der wichtigsten arabischen Städtegründungen, die hier genannt werden sollen, waren das 831 gegründete Mursiya = Murcia, das 855 erbaute Kal´at Rabah = Calatrava, das durch Abd ar-Rahman III. als Hafenstadt gegründete Al-Mariya = Almería und auch die Stadt Granada ist an dieser Stelle zu nennen, als Gründung der ersten Hälfte des 11.Jahrhunderts. „Es wurde nach der hier vorher existierenden Judensiedlung Gharnata Alyejud genannt. Die benachbarte römisch-westgotische Stadt Illiberis (iberisch, „Neustadt“, jetzt Elvira, von arab. Ilbirah) schrumpfte darauf.“ Das Beispiel der Stadt Illiberis zeigt, dass sich unter den spanischen Städtenamen Beispiele für die Arabisierung älterer Städtenamen finden lassen. Städtenamen mit keltischen, griechischen, iberischen, karthagoschen oder römischen Wurzeln haben unter der arabischen Herrschaft eine Wandlung erfahren, dessen heutige Namen sich auf arabisierten Namen zurückführen lassen. Weitere Beispiele für derartig arabisierte Städtenamen sind:
Olisipone = Al-Usbuna = Lisboa; Caesara Augusta = Sarakusta = Zaragoza; Corduba = Kurtuba = Córdoba. [...]
