西南政法大学经济法学科始创于20世纪80年代初，是全国率先设置的几个经济法专业之一。本学科于1996年取得博士学位授予权，2000年开始向国外和我国港澳台地区招收博士研究生，2002年和2007年被教育部评定为国家级高等学校重点学科。经过多年的积累和传承，本学科在经济法理论和实务研究方面取得了较为丰硕的成果，并在经济法基础理论、农村经济法制等领域形成了自己的研究特色和研究优势，在法学界享有一定的声誉。

Southwest University of Politics and Law founded its discipline of economic law in the early 1980s, as one of the majors on economic law in China. The discipline was granted, in 1996, with the authority for doctoral degree, started to recruit doctoral students from abroad and such regions of China as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and was verified, in 2002 and 2007, by Ministry of Education as the national key discipline of higher education. Upon accumulating and inheriting for years, the discipline has made relatively abundant achievements in theories of economic law and practical studies, and has formed its characteristics and advantages of research on basic theory of economic law and legal system for rural economy, enjoying certain reputation in the sector of law.
