Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich BWL - Personal und Organisation, Note: 1,7, FernUniversität Hagen, Veranstaltung: Verhalten von und in Organisationen, 20 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der organisationalen Praxis wird im Allgemeinen nicht in Frage gestellt, dass eine Gruppenentscheidung der Individualentscheidung vorzuziehen ist – vor allem dann, wenn es sich um eine komplexe oder extrem kostspielige Problematik handelt. Man unterstellt der Entscheidungsfindung in Gruppen verlässlichere Ergebnisse - durch eine breitere Wissensbasis der Beteiligten und einen komplexeren Entscheidungsprozess, mit dem ein Einzelner überfordert wäre.
Die Forschung, die sich mit den Prozessen innerhalb einer Gruppe und den Auswirkungen auf die Entscheidungsfindung durch die Gruppe beschäftigt, liefert jedoch auch Hinweise darauf, dass Entscheidungen, die von Gruppen gefällt werden, durchaus ihre Tücken aufweisen.
Ziel der vorliegenden Seminararbeit ist die Darstellung der Forschungsergebnisse zu ausgewählten Gruppenprozessen und situativen Faktoren, die eine optimale Entscheidungsfindung gefährden können. Nach einer Darstellung der Stärken und Schwächen der Entscheidungsfindung in Gruppen im Vergleich zur Individualentscheidung folgen die Prozesse, Effekte und situativen Faktoren, die sich auf die Entscheidungsfindung auswirken. Diese Darstellung beginnt mit den Gruppeneffekten, die sich auf die Gruppenmotivation auswirken. Anschließend folgen die Theorien zum Konformitätsdruck basierend auf der Forschung von Asch, dem Information Sampling nach Stasser und Steward und den unter dem Begriff „Entrapment“ zusammengefassten Forschungsergebnissen verschiedener Forschungsrichtungen. Vom Entscheidungsautismus, wie er von den Autoren Schulz-Hardt und Frey beschrieben wird, wird der Bogen zur Theorie des „Groupthink“ nach Irving Janis geschlagen und anschließend, der durch die Forschung von Stoner nachgewiesene „Groupshift“ als Folge von Konformitätsdruck und Polarisierungstendenzen dargestellt.
Die abschließende kritische Würdigung befasst sich mit den organisationalen Möglichkeiten, Gruppen bei der Entscheidungsfindung positiv zu beeinflussen und endet mit einem Ausblick auf die Chancen, die ein richtiger Umgang mit Fehlentscheidungen und auch der Mut zu riskanten Entscheidungen für Wirtschaftsorganisationen mit sich bringen kann.
